Steve Kerr proved to be the ultimate teammate when he refused to reveal an embarrassing story of Scottie Pippen during the duo’s time with the Chicago Bulls.
In an ESPN interview, Kerr joined Rachel Nichols and Pippen who were part of the edition. The former ESPN journo offered a warm welcome and also added, “I texted you yesterday and said get your embarrassing stories about Scottie Pippen ready, and you’re no fun, you said you’re not gonna do it.”
“When a guy basically gets you three rings… you don’t make fun of him,” Kerr said with a smile.

This isn’t the first time the now Golden State Warriors head coach has had his former teammate’s back. He had even defended him once over Pippen’s decision to delay his foot surgery until shortly before the 1997-98 season.
While Michael Jordan was peeved at the idea, Kerr disagreed with the Bulls icon saying, “Everyone respected Scottie so much. We felt his frustration. He probably should have been the second-highest-paid guy in the NBA or definitely top-five. So we all felt for him, nobody resented him for having that surgery. Later, we all understood, let’s give him his space, and he’s going to be there for the second stretch of the season for us.”
Mutual respect and admiration between teammates go a long way, and safe to say, Kerr and Pippen have had their friendship intact.
Steve Kerr Unsurprisingly Had Scottie Pippen In His All-Time Starting Five
It didn’t come as a surprise that Pippen was on Kerr’s all-time starters list. Per The SportsRush, he already had two of his Bulls mates on it.
“Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Tim Duncan, Shaq — I played with him in Orlando for several months — and Mark Price. Mark was incredible. He was one of the first guys that I had ever seen that could shoot 3-pointers off the dribble and off the catch really well, and was just so dynamic with the ball in his hands,” Kerr said.
“He was actually a lot like Steph in that you had to pick him up well beyond the 3-point line … and this was in an era where 3-pointers weren’t really emphasized. Mark was probably taking four or five [3-pointers] a game. If he played today and he were taking 15 to 20 threes a game, as strong and fast as he was, and just how dynamic he was, he’d be an All-Star every year.”
That’s a unique list that Kerr boasts of, but it is surely a powerhouse of a team. Guess Kerr’s five will surely give teams a run for their money if they ever suited up together.
