The Phoenix Suns are making a big decision that will benefit plenty of fans in the city. Following Mat Ishbia’s takeover, the team is announcing that they’ll change the way people watch their games.

This can be a big change not only for him but the rest of the NBA. After their contract with Bally Sports expires, their games will be free-to-watch in two different ways.

“In a move that is perhaps both game-changer and tipping point, the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury have struck a deal that removes their long-held television rights from cable.

“Starting with their next seasons, the teams’ games will be broadcast for free over-the-air and streamed online on a new direct-to-consumer service.”

The new owner claims that they aren’t interested in getting money from people and instead will focus on renewing the relationship with the fans who couldn’t afford their games before.

“We’re not focusing on money. We’re focusing on winning, success and taking care of fans, taking care of the community,” Mat Ishbia said, via ESPN. “What happens is you always end up making money. It always works out.

“We’re going to have more fans than ever before. We’re going to have more people who will have eyeballs on Devin Booker and Deandre [Ayton] and Kevin Durant, Chris [Paul] and cheer the team on. And more people buying merchandise because they’re bigger fans.”

This certainly will be a big change in the league. The Suns went from having an owner that didn’t respect his employees to one that is letting go of a lot of money to take the game to new houses.

These types of decisions are hard to watch in the world of sports unless teams want to take all their fans to an exclusive app or streaming platform, but the Suns took a similar yet different route.

Bally Sports’ current situation has also played a role in this decision, which could work wonders for the Suns in the future. Their Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul are playing at a great level, and many people believe they are the biggest favorites to win it all this season.

Phoenix Suns Are Legit Championship Contenders This Season

Nikola Jokic recently previewed the series against the Suns, and even though the Denver Nuggets are the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, the Joker is convinced the Suns have the advantage over the rest of the teams.

They beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the playoffs. Now, the challenge will be bigger, but the Suns are ready to go against anybody in a season where the championship is up for grabs.
