Point guard Dejounte Murray is one of the faces of the Atlanta Hawks, and there’s no doubt that he has been a solid player for them this season. The team ended up making the playoffs via the play-in tournament but is down 3-1 to the Boston Celtics in their first-round series.

At the conclusion of Game 4 of the Celtics-Hawks series, Dejounte Murray bumped a referee and was subsequently suspended for Game 5. Recently, he spoke out about his suspension, noting that everyone, including the referees should be held accountable.

“Whatever happened, happened. I think we all should be held accountable. Players, coaches, and even the referees. It shouldn’t be one-sided. It should all be fair. It’s not just players out there… At the end of the day, I’m a grown man. I hold my own and take full responsibility for not being able to play… At the end of the day, there’s a lot that led up to that. I think a lot of players can relate to those frustrations.”

There’s no doubt that Dejounte Murray is unhappy with the perceived lack of accountability for referees in the NBA. Other players have spoken out about the referees this season, with Fred VanVleet notably going on a viral rant about referee Ben Taylor earlier in the season.

In the playoffs, Dejounte Murray averaged 25.3 PPG, 7.3 RPG, and 5.8 APG for the Atlanta Hawks. There’s no doubt that this is stellar production, and the Hawks will definitely miss him against the Boston Celtics in Game 5.

Trae Young Claimed That Dejounte Murray Could Help The Atlanta Hawks Win Championships

Dejounte Murray is definitely a gifted player, and his two-way play is definitely a boon for the Atlanta Hawks. Previously, we saw Trae Young claim that Dejounte Murray can be a player that helps the team win championships.

“I just know what type of player he is. I know what he can bring to our team. I wanna win championships in Atlanta. I think he can ultimately help take us to that level. We’ve been in the playoffs, we’ve been on a run, but he can take us to that next level.”

Though the Atlanta Hawks were definitely disappointing this year, perhaps they will be better next year after a season of developing chemistry. The hope will be for them to be a contender next year, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
