Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes have a bit of history, and it rose to the fore again with the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings squaring off in the first round of the playoffs this season.
A fan took to Twitter to post a snippet from The Draymond Green Show from 2022, where the seasoned forward had Damian Lillard as his guest. One of the topics was the former’s beef with Barnes, and Green revealed why the Kings’ star nursed a grudge against him.
“To this day, Harrison Barnes don’t like me for KD coming here,” Green explained. “And the reality is, I didn’t tell the Warriors to trade you to bring KD in. … He took it very personally because of that story that came out that I cried to KD in the car. He took it very personally at me. This dude invites Steph, Klay, and everybody to his wedding except me. I didn’t take it personally ’cause it is what it is. … It sucks that you got traded but you went and made your money.”

To quickly recap, Golden State had to trade the forward to the Dallas Mavericks to add Durant to their ranks — a move that didn’t sit down well with Barnes.
He was a key part of the Warriors team that had a stellar 73-9 run in the regular season but went down to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Will Draymond Green And The Warriors Get The Better Of Harrison Barnes And The Kings In The Playoffs?
Though it was the Sacramento Kings who won the first two games to take a solid 0-2 lead in the first two games, the Golden State Warriors clawed back with gritty performances in Games 3 and 4 to even the scoreline.
Barnes was one of the players headlining a thrilling Game 4 after missing a game-winning three-pointer.
“After you learn to put yourself together after 2016, I think one shot is not going to necessarily faze you,” Barnes said in the aftermath of the loss. “For me, it’s all about trusting the process. I got a good look but I missed it.”
With three games left in the series, the Kings will look to the likes of Barnes and Malik Monk to deliver, especially with De’Aaron Fox dealing with a fractured finger. While the guard may suit up, the Warriors will be keen to take advantage of Fox’s injury and put the screws to the Kings early on.
The Warriors vs. Kings is one of the major storylines in the ongoing playoffs, and it remains to be seen if Green and Barnes mend their relationship soon after.
