The Sacramento Kings suffered a blow in the form of De’Aaron Fox’s injury that has him doubtful for Game 5 of the first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors.

“Kings guard De’Aaron Fox fractured the very tip of his left index finger in Game 4,” Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted. “But there’s still hope he will try and play Game 5 on Tuesday, sources tell ESPN. Fox would need to play with a protective covering on the finger. He will be listed as doubtful.”

The guard reportedly suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Game 4. Despite the setback, he propped up 38 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists on Sunday.

Fox has been pivotal for the Kings in the playoffs averaging 31.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists. His absence in Game 5 will surely favor the Warriors, who have clawed their way back into the series and leveled it 2-2. They will head to Sacramento and hope to pull up a lead.

If Fox does end up playing, it would perhaps see him on a minutes limitation. The Kings will not want to risk losing the services of their star as they will look to take the series deeper.

Brian Windhorst Thinks De’Aaron Fox Is The NBA’s Next Superstar

In what comes as a bold but thoroughly deserved claim, NBA insider Brian Windhorst called Fox the league’s next big superstar.

“America, I want you to look at your next NBA superstar,” Windhorst said in Thursday’s edition of First Take. “He’s developing right in front of your eyes. De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings.”

He further added: “De’Aaron Fox has developed a killer way to finish games because he gets to his spots with speed. And it’s not just running so fast and outrunning everybody.”

The analyst has been spot-on about Fox, who has already been named the league’s Clutch Player. Now, he will look to take the Kings deeper into the playoffs, even if it means playing with a fractured finger. And should he indeed play, Golden State will have a tough time keeping him quiet.
