Even the Warriors can admit that Draymond Green was rightfully ejected from the Game after stomping on Domantas Sabonis’ chest late in Game 2. But the Warriors are outraged over the NBA’s decision to also suspend Draymond for Game 4 of the series, a move which a team source called ‘unnecessary.’
On Thursday, NBA Insider Ramona Shelburne reported that after initial frustration was cast on Draymond, it has since shifted in the direction of the league office itself.
“Initially, there was frustration internally toward Green for his behavior, sources said. But the league’s decision to suspend him for stomping on Kings center Domantas Sabonis’ chest in Game 2 has engendered a full-throated defense of Green and anger at the ruling,” wrote Shelburne. “As one team source told ESPN, “We are livid. We paid the price already [when Green was ejected] in Game 2. We get that. No problem there. But this suspension was unnecessary.”

Obviously, no amount of anger or rage will change the outcome of the NBA’s ruling. But there is hope among the fans that Green’s suspension might be a story the team can rally behind to help turn the series around and keep the season alive.
Trouble Is Brewing In Dub Nation
Facing a potential sweep, we can expect the Warriors to go all-out to avoid falling 0-3 to a Kings team that has, so far, looked vastly superior. But whether or not they win tonight, they have some internal problems to address.
“I was talking to somebody earlier who’s ‘in the know’ who said that some of their players are pouting,” said Chris Broussard. “The young boys. [Jonathan] Kuminga, [Donte] DiVincenzo, Jordan Poole… ‘Cause they’re not getting minutes.”
The good news is, those young guys might get some more playing time, with Dray set to miss this next game. We will see soon enough what kind of difference it will make.
In the long run, there are plenty of reasons to doubt the long-term future of the Dubs. With a ridiculous payroll and after so many years of greatness, the end is surely closer than the beginning for this era in Golden State.
Draymond’s suspension may just be the final nail in the coffin for their last stand together.
