Domantas Sabonis’ style of play has been one of the talking points ever since his tangle with Draymond Green that saw him get stomped and the latter suspended.

The Kings’ big man’s style of play has come under intense criticism from the Golden State Warriors, but in a statement that comes as a shocker, the team’s center, Kevon Looney, believes Sabonis doesn’t play dirty.

“As a big man, that’s what we do,” Looney said, speaking to the media. “I think that’s pretty normal. Pushing, shoving, grabbing, that’s all part of protocol down there (under the basket). And… sometimes they call it, sometimes they don’t.”

While this might earn Looney some brickbats, his thoughts surely make sense. Centers are at the eye of the storm when it comes to battling for the ball, a fact that they know all too well. Perhaps Green and Sabonis could both look at placing significant focus on the game rather than blow up an incident well out of proportion.

The Kings vs. Warriors Playoff Showdown Has Been Nothing Short Of Drama

Crosstown rivalries are not a novelty, but when it’s between two teams of whom one of them is the defending champions, there is bound to be significant drama, and that was exactly the case between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors.

To start with, the Warriors trail 0-2, making it the first time the likes of Stephen Curry being pegged on the backfoot in a playoff series. Next up, Game 2 saw a grab-and-stomp episode between Draymond Green and Domantas Sabonis that saw the former being suspended for a game.

This sparked intense outrage in the Warriors camp, who now accuse Sabonis of using the ball as a weapon. And all of this with five games left in the series.

The Warriors are clearly not pushovers, but they face an uphill task trying to get back into contention. The upcoming home game is a must-win affair, and the Warriors are already short-handed without Green. Only time will tell if they can channel their frustration to a win.
