The Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers are both teams that have a solid amount of talent on the roster. However, both teams have been inconsistent this year, partly due to injuries to key players.

Despite the fact that neither team is a top 4 seed in the Western Conference, there are many people who are high on their chances. In the latest episode of First Take, Rajon Rondo claimed that he has the Lakers and the Clippers as his favorites in the Western Conference right now.

“Either the LA Clippers or LA Lakers,” Rondo said. “I think they can get it done. Russ has a lot to prove.”

This is definitely a hot take from Rajon Rondo. The Los Angeles Clippers barely made it to the No. 6 seed this season, while the Los Angeles Lakers finished as the No. 7 seed and are in the play-in tournament. Still, having experience and talent matters, and the Clippers and Lakers are both solid in that department.

Charles Barkley Called Kawhi Leonard The King Of Los Angeles

Even without the presence of Paul George on the roster, the Los Angeles Clippers are a dangerous team. They managed to beat the Los Angeles Lakers in a must-win regular season game ahead of the playoffs and were part of the reason the Lakers didn’t get enough wins to make the playoffs outright. Previously, Charles Barkley claimed that Kawhi Leonard is the king of Los Angeles, noting that the Lakers aren’t going to make a run.

“The Lakers ain’t gonna make no run… Kawhi Leonard ran them out of the building last night… Kawhi sent them a message last night. He’s the king of LA.”

The Los Angeles Clippers when fully healthy definitely have a more well-rounded team than the Los Angeles Lakers. They have plenty of experienced veterans on the roster, most of whom can make 3PT shots and play team defense. They could definitely make a deep run in the playoffs if they manage to get past the Suns in the first round. Though it is hard to see them actually doing it, there are some reasons they could upset the Phoenix Suns even without Paul George.

Hopefully, we see the Los Angeles Clippers find success during the Kawhi Leonard era. They managed to make the Western Conference Finals in 2021, and perhaps they can get even further in the future.
