Tyrese Maxey could be looking at a massive paycheck with the Philadelphia 76ers in the days to come.
According to Heavy’s Sean Deveney, league executives believe the guard could be headed toward a maximum extension this summer. Maxey is in his third year in the league and has been a force for the Sixers this season, averaging 20.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.9 rebounds from 60 games.
He was selected as the 21st overall pick in the 2020 draft by Philadelphia, and now, he’s set to reap some rich rewards after playing a rookie role for the major portion of his time on the floor.
Maxey is third in the Sixers’ scoring list, with Joel Embiid (33.1 points) and James Harden (21.0 points) leading the way. His prolific scoring has been instrumental for the Sixers this season.
The Philadelphia 76ers Are One Of The Teams Considered As Bona Fide Title Contenders
Such has been the dominant run by the Philadelphia 76ers that they are looked at as legitimate title contenders this season. Embiid and Harden, along with Maxey, have been firing in unison and, more importantly, have stayed consistent.
Earlier, Julius Erving believed that the Sixers had a good shot. “This is probably the best shot that I’ve seen in recent years,” he said.
“But this team, they seem to be very resilient. They are definitely dynamic in terms of having a blend of weapons. Got our big guy, the top scorer in the league. Got Maxey, who’s a dynamo. Harden, a former MVP, on any given night can be the dominant player on the floor no matter who they’re playing against.”
There’s no doubt that the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks, the other two powerhouses in the East will pose a stern test for the Sixers, but as Erving put it, Philly is resilient and may just go the distance this time.
