Ben Simmons has earned a lot of criticism in recent times due a lot of reasons. The Brooklyn Nets player appears to have lost interest in the game of basketball, and fans and analysts often criticize him over that.

However, not everybody agrees with the criticism, and Denver Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr. belongs to that group.

“People are so hard on Ben Simmons. But I know what he’s going through as far as he’s able to play right now, but he’s not back to Ben Simmons, and it’ll take awhile for him to have all the explosiveness,” Porter told Brian Lewis of the New York Post. “I watched a little highlight video from a couple years ago — he’s just flying down the lane. He’ll get that back, but it just takes time. Anything with the back, it just inhibits a little bit of explosiveness.”

Simmons has seen his career go from a very promising one to a complete disappointment. Of course, he still can go back to his best level and compete like he used to. But it takes a lot of sacrifices to go back to that level.

Kevin Garnett Offers Big Advice To Ben Simmons

Just like Porter, Kevin Garnett showed his support to Simmons, even sending him a big message about looking for his roots and rediscovering what made him fall in love with the beautiful game.

Simmons is in a complex position right now. He was shut down by the Brooklyn Nets for the remainder of this season. He’s dealt with some back pain again, prompting the team to send him home.

This offseason will be crucial for Simmons. If he wants to return to the highest level, he needs to put in the effort and show that he wants it. Ben knows he’s struggling, but he also knows he has the solution. He’s nothing like the player that won the Rookie of the Year award, and he needs to be as good or better than that star.
