LeBron James is officially a billionaire, one of the richest athletes and richest men in the world. James has built a business empire while making tons of money in NBA salary as well as various endorsement deals. However, despite this, the crazy thing is that he remains one of the cheapest players in the NBA.

LeBron James‘ cheapness is so legendary, he has himself admitted in the past that he never pays for data roaming and that he doesn’t buy any apps. So it’s fitting that in the movie, ‘Trainwreck’ James played himself as being cheap alongside Bill Hader, seemingly forgetting his wallet after the two have shared a meal. After recently saying he wouldn’t pay $5 to keep his Twitter verification, he was trolled using that scene: “I knew LeBron acted this scene in Trainwreck a little TOO well.”

Elon Musk recently introduced the idea that accounts that are verified on Twitter will also have to pay $7-8 per month to keep their verification. This policy was due to go into action starting April 1st, and it would affect everyone that has already been verified if they don’t pay. However, James is staying firm on his policy to never pay for apps, even though it might lead to many people trying to impersonate him online.

Taylor Rooks Responded To LeBron James Saying He Won’t Pay For Twitter

LeBron James is someone that refused to pay for ad-free music, choosing instead to listen to commercials while he was playing music in the locker room. And his Twitter proclamation drew responses from quite a few people, including Taylor Rooks, who quote-tweeted James after seeing what he had to say

“Players always say LeBron doesn’t even pay for data roaming and will wait forever to get to a place with wifi because he refuses to do that extra cost….so this definitely tracks.”

There is a debate raging around whether it is good or not for Elon Musk to charge so much money for Twitter verification. For someone like LeBron James, who brings advertisers to the platform by engaging on it, losing him like this is a sign that things might not work out too well for Twitter. As far as NBA fans are concerned, we’ll just have to be much more careful when sharing tweets from ‘LeBron James’ once the policy goes into effect.
