Superstar Kevin Durant was traded midseason to the Phoenix Suns this year, ending his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets. Though his individual play was stellar during his time there, the team never had much playoff success.

Recently, we saw Kevin Durant get real about his time with the Brooklyn Nets when speaking with Shams Charania of The Athletic. He noted that he “hated” that things happened the way they did but added that some stuff simply “didn’t work out.” Durant also stated his appreciation for the Nets organization.

“I want the best for that organization. I wanted the best for us every game. I hated it had to go down like that,” he said. “I wasn’t trying to prove the Nets is a s—ty organization. I was trying to prove that the Nets are a great organization, that they care about their players, want the best for their players. Certain s— just didn’t work out. I understand that.”

“I’m not here trying to prove that the Nets was wrong, I think they did amazing by me the whole time I was there, not just with the trade. Coming off the Achilles injury, get back into playing — they made sure they were there for me every step of the way. And I appreciate that for life. I feel like we’ll be tied as family members for life regardless of how it finished.”

Sometimes despite a team and a player’s best efforts, things simply go wrong. Both Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets are doing well right now. The Nets managed to put together a solid young team, while Durant is off with the contending Phoenix Suns.

This season, Kevin Durant has averaged 29.8 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 5.2 APG. He has also been extremely efficient as well, shooting 55.9% from the field and 37.6% from the 3PT range.

Some People Consider Kevin Durant The Greatest Player In The World

There is no doubt that Kevin Durant is one of the most dynamic players in the league, and some, like Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia, consider him the best player in the world. He is definitely among the more talented players in the league, and few defenders can guard him in isolation.

Kevin Durant will have the opportunity to prove that he is the best player in the world if he wins a championship with the Phoenix Suns. He has a chance to do that this year, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
