Kevin Durant has been criticized for the way he’s managed himself and his career since leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016. It’s been seven years since that moment, and people still keep finding ways to put him down, but Durant isn’t worried about any of that.
In fact, he’s claimed that taking care of his legacy isn’t part of his journey anymore.
“I don’t care about legacy,” Durant told The Athletic. “I used to. I used to want to carve out a lane or space in this game for myself that people can remember, but it’s become too much of a thing now. It just becomes too much of a focus on other people. What’s he done? What’s he done? Comparisons. Before, when we wasn’t doing all this debating, I cared about it … I’m about to be in the same breath as these top guys. It was big.
“Nowadays, I truly, truly don’t care. I truly just want to go out there and produce, be the best that I could be, go home, hang with my family, that’s it.”
Durant isn’t losing sleep over people’s comments on him and how he will be remembered once his career is over. He knows he’s done enough and is happy with that, and even though he doesn’t win a championship with the Phoenix Suns, he played basketball as much as he wanted, which is the most important thing for him.
KD is a true hooper, and he still enjoys the game, but he’s tired of all the external noise and the folks trying to diminish his achievements. He’s on a mission right now with the Suns, trying to help them win that elusive NBA championship, and things appear to be going great for them.
Kevin Durant Helps Suns Win Against Timberwolves In Return
Durant returned to action on Wednesday in a big win over the Minnesota Timberwolves that had Rudy Gobert fuming and accusing the league of helping the Suns, Warriors, and Kings win this campaign.
KD finished the night with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The 2x NBA champion just returned from an injury yesterday, and the Suns again looked like a dangerous squad. They are still considered championship favorites by some, and with a healthy KD, it seems like they won’t have that much problem going to the Finals, especially considering how easy the West looks for some superstars.
