Patrick Beverley was fully charged up when he took on his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, on Sunday.

He had roasted them before the game, and then in the fourth quarter, he hilariously did the “too small” celebration against LeBron James. Afterward, though, Beverley made it clear it wasn’t personal, as per Broderick Turner from the Los Angeles Times.

“I do it to everybody,” Beverley said. “I was just having fun, getting lost in the game. Just getting lost in the game, having fun, man. We’re not construction workers. We’re not guys that have to get up at 4 o’clock in the morning. We’re professional basketball players. It’s all about having fun. That’s what we tried to do tonight, well, what I tried to do tonight.”

Beverley does that celebration quite often, but doing it against LeBron of all people, certainly raised some eyebrows. Beverley had scored on a hook shot over James to basically seal the win for the Chicago Bulls, so perhaps he was a bit more amped up at that point and did it as a habit.

The one thing we know about LeBron is that if you do taunt him, then you should brace yourself because he is going to come back with a vengeance. While he probably won’t resort to taunting Beverley when these teams meet on Wednesday night, he’d been keen to put on a performance for the ages to shut down his former teammate.

Patrick Beverley Had A Lot To Get Off His Chest Regarding His Time With The Lakers

Beverley’s stint with the Lakers didn’t even end up lasting for one whole season, and he has been speaking recently about his time there. He took a shot at Lakers head coach Darvin Ham by implying that he wasn’t used correctly by them.

He also elaborated on his frustrations during his time there and seems to be relieved to get out. Beverley is having a much better time with the Bulls, as they are 10-6 since he made his debut for them, which is tied for the fourth-best record in that time. He is not putting up great numbers, with averages of 6.3 PPG, 5.6 RPG, and 3.7 APG, but his presence has helped the team turn a corner.
