The New York Knicks are having a great season and look destined for the playoffs. Julius Randle is doing well once again, while Jalen Brunson has excelled in his role since signing as a free agent.

Mitchell Robinson is one of the better big men in the league, he has suggested that he is the better big man in New York. However, his role on the Knicks isn’t catching his fancy currently, as he made clear on social media.

Looks like Mitchell Robinson isn’t happy with his role on offense 👀

“Tired asf of just being out there for cardio fam like I want to play basketball to just wasting my time and energy,” wrote Robinson. The situation seems to have gotten to him because he followed that up by writing, “Disappearing for a while.”

His frustration is perhaps easy to understand. Robinson’s stats have regressed from last season. Despite playing 2 more minutes per game, he is averaging 7.5 points, nearly a point less than the 8.3 per game he averaged last season.

Robinson being involved on offense is tough. Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson, and RJ Barrett are the three players who demand the most shots on the New York Knicks. While Brunson has emerged as an excellent scorer, his playmaking as a point guard does leave a bit to be desired. He is averaging just 6 assists per game, and it seems Robinson isn’t too thrilled with the limited opportunity coming his way. He does have some other options as well.

The Boston Celtics Might Be Interested In Mitchell Robinson

Defensive big men are at a premium in the NBA, and many teams would want to sign Mitchell Robinson. According to an NBA executive, the Boston Celtics could target Robinson.

“Williams is such a good fit for that team if he is healthy, I can’t see them making a move. But if you get to a point where, OK, this guy is not going to be healthy, they would have to look for a new fit. They would want a defense-first kind of guy who can pitch in on offense, and a guy like Mitchell Robinson in New York would be an interesting guy there,” the exec told Deveney.

With teams interested in Robinson, it would make sense as to why he is being so open with his frustrations. But this is a double-edged sword as teams don’t like players to be too open about their thoughts on their role.
