LeBron James is desperate to get back on the court for the Los Angeles Lakers as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs.

So much so, that he has been looking at every treatment option possible, in order to return before the end of the regular season, as per Brian Windhorst.

“From what I’m told, LeBron is turning over every stone he possibly can from a treatment perspective, to get that foot in position to return at some point this season.”

LeBron was always going to try his best to return as soon as possible, but the way the team has been playing without him would give him more motivation to get back on the court. There were concerns that their playoff aspirations might be over when he went down, but they have gone 3-2 in his absence and have played well.

James had been averaging 29.5 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and 6.9 APG while shooting 50.1% from the field, before suffering that foot injury against the Dallas Mavericks. Replacing that offensive production was always going to be difficult, so the Lakers have found other ways to win, as they are the best defensive team in the league since acquiring Jarred Vanderbilt. Adding James’ offensive production to the mix should make them quite formidable, but while LeBron is trying his best to get back, his efforts could be in vain.

Lakers’ Former Head Athletic Trainer Thinks LeBron James Could Be Out For The Season

Dr. Marco Nunez worked with the Lakers from 2016 to 2019 and his gut feeling is that James is out for the rest of the regular season. He also believes though, that where the Lakers are in the standings could play a big role in whether the Lakers decide to risk having James back on the court.

They are currently the 9th seed with a 32-34 record and the way things are going, are definitely in with a chance at that 6th seed. Finishing 6th would mean an automatic berth in the playoffs instead of having to navigate through the play-in tournament and if they are in the mix for it in the last couple of weeks, then we might just see LeBron back on the court then.
