Ja Morant’s Powerade deal looks to be in jeopardy. The Memphis Grizzlies star’s latest string of controversies resulted in the sports drink deleting its commercial with the guard from Instagram.
Per Morgan Jon Fox, the commercial featuring Morant has apparently been removed from its Instagram page (via ClutchPoints).

Per his agreement, he will appear in Powerade’s commercials, billboards, and events including the relaunch that’s slated ahead of the NCAA’s March Madness basketball tournament. According to Bloomberg, the financial terms of the deal were kept under wraps. For those who haven’t caught the ad, it is still available for viewing on Twitter.

It should be noted that there has been no official word from the brand regarding its current deal with Morant. The multi-year contract could be on rough waters and his recent scandal may have put the brakes on his agreement. However, much of it is pure speculation at this juncture.
Ja Morant Likely To Miss Another Four Games For The Memphis Grizzlies
Morant’s latest controversies have seen him miss a couple of games for the Grizzlies, and per Adrian Wojnarowski’s latest, the guard is set to miss even more games this season.
Taking to Twitter, the NBA insider noted that Morant would miss at least four more games. This comes amid reports of him missing more games over the course of the season.
Morant has had stellar numbers this season averaging has put up 27.1 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 8.2 APG. There’s no doubt that his solid run ran into a major snag and one can only hope that the gun incident doesn’t throw away what has been a stellar career and promises to get better in the years to come.
He did have solid backing in the form of coach Taylor Jenkins. “It’s a healing process,” said the Grizzlies’ head honcho. “If everyone expects something to change overnight, we’ve got to be due diligence and respectful on that. We’re talking about Ja being in a better place… To put a timetable on it is disrespectful.”
Only time will tell how it all pans out for the immensely-talented player and if his Powerade deal powers through.
