Patrick Beverley is generally considered to be one of the best defensive guards in the league. There is no doubt that he is a pest when guarding opposing ball handlers, and he frequently makes big plays on the defensive end.

Ahead of the trade deadline, Patrick Beverley was traded by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Orlando Magic in exchange for center Mo Bamba. He then signed with the Chicago Bulls after securing a buyout. Recently, Beverley revealed that he actually asked for a trade from the Los Angeles Lakers. (12:30)

“To some people, it can be that Patrick Beverley got traded, but in all reality, I didn’t like what was going on,” said Patrick Beverley. “Let’s find a better home for me. Not he ain’t good enough, let’s get rid of him. That s**t was my decision.”

This turned out to be a good move for both the Los Angeles Lakers and Patrick Beverley himself. The Lakers got a solid young big man that can stretch the floor and protect the rim in Mo Bamba, while Beverley ended up getting bought out and joined the Chicago Bulls, where he will get ample playing time.

Patrick Beverley has averaged 4.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 2.5 APG for the Chicago Bulls thus far. Though his offense has been poor overall, it is clear that Patrick Beverley has still made a difference with his effort and defense. Beverley has definitely been impactful, and we’ll see whether his elite defensive play continues.

Patrick Beverley Wants To Knock Out The Lakers From The Playoff Race

After getting traded, Patrick Beverley claimed that his goal is to knock out the Los Angeles Lakers from the playoff race, noting that the Chicago Bulls play his former team two times before the end of the season.

“We play the Lakers twice,” said Beverley. ” I want to knock them out the playoffs. We gotta get in the playoffs, so excuse us.”

It will be interesting to see if Patrick Beverley ends up beating the Los Angeles Lakers later this season. It was recently reported that Lakers superstar LeBron James might be out for an extended period of time, and there’s no guarantee that he’ll return by the time the team plays the Bulls.

The Chicago Bulls still have a realistic chance of making the playoffs this year, and we’ll see if they are able to make it under Patrick Beverley’s leadership. They have the talent to do so, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
