Damian Lillard had a breathtaking 71-point performance against the Houston Rockets to tie the NBA’s season-high in points, which was set by Donovan Mitchell earlier this season.

Mitchell ended up being drug tested after his performance due to the sheer absurdity of it. It seems like Damian Lillard has been put through the same treatment.

Blazers reporter Casey Holdahl revealed that Lillard was subjected to a blood drug test after this performance.

A drug test where they draw blood instead of using urine is far more comprehensive and looks for instances of serious blood doping such as the use of EPO. However, we’ve seen Lillard have mind-bending performances like this before and never come close to being identified as a drug cheat. The likelihood of doping, in this case, is 0.00001% but the NBA has to cover its bases.

Damian Lillard Hoping To Spark A Turnaround?

The Portland Trail Blazers have been one of the most average teams this season, sitting at the lower end of the Western Conference playoff race. Lillard is once again battling questions about his loyalty to this franchise that just doesn’t look to be the championship-contending roster that Lillard deserves. All Dame can do is go out and put in the work.

Lillard is averaging 38.9 points in his last 20 games, an incredible feat for the Blazers star. However, his team is still 2 games below .500 and trying to hold off the surging Lakers while hoping that a team in the top 10 falls out. The roster is what it is and Lillard can’t do anything about it until the summer, so he might as well do everything in his power right now to give this franchise another playoff appearance.
