James Harden was snubbed as an All-Star this season despite putting up some excellent performance next to Joel Embiid for the Philadelphia 76ers. The Beard has settled in nicely into his new franchise, with hopes of leading the past the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the first time since 2001.

James Harden came under some scrutiny over the offseason after he accepted a cheaper deal than many would have expected to help the Philadelphia 76ers build. The NBA even launched an investigation into the matter, but it seems Harden is happy with his decision. He is also in an interesting place, having a player option for next season, meaning he could become a free agent in the coming offseason.

Harden hadn’t had a full-time agent since Rob Pelinka left the space to become General Manager of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017. The Beard has put himself in an interesting position to renegotiate a new contract with the Sixers, and it seems he now feels the need to have a proper agent once again.

James Harden’s New Agent Is Former Adidas Executive Troy Payne

James Harden will be 34 this coming season and he is in line to earn what will likely be his last major NBA contract. With the salary cap set to explode in the coming years, Harden will want to make as much as he possibly can. And the man he’s chosen to help him in that endeavor is ex-Adidas executive Troy Payne, as reported by The Athletic.

“James Harden will be represented by Troy Payne, a former Adidas executive who is partnering with agents Mike Silverman and Brandon Grier to lead Equity Basketball. Payne, Silverman and Grier are now the agents for Harden, who signed a two-year contract with the 76ers last offseason and has the ability to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

Equity Basketball is a part of Equity Sports, the larger agency that represents clients across various leagues. Patrick Mahomes is a client, and the quarterback has one of the largest deals in the history of professional sports. What this means for the 76ers and their future with Harden is anybody’s guess, but it’s clear that the Beard means business when the time comes for him to negotiate his next deal.
