One of the more underrated moves of the trade deadline was the Los Angeles Clippers acquiring Bones Hyland from the Denver Nuggets. Despite being in just his second NBA season, Hyland has made a name for himself as an impact player on a good team in the Denver Nuggets. And while his potential is massive even without playing next to the superstars, they will only help him reach it even sooner.
Bones Hyland played next to Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray on the Denver Nuggets, and now being on the Clippers will allow him to play next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul Geroge. All these players have proved themselves at the highest level, although the other three are in a superstar tier, while Jamal Murray hasn’t quite reached there yet.
But still, it’s not something that people would expect his teammates or even former teammates to say out loud. That’s exactly what Bones Hyland did in a recent interview, though, when asked about what it will be like to go from playing alongside Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
Bones Hyland Refused To Acknowledge Jamal Murray As A Phenomenal Talent
The Denver Nuggets are thought of around the league as a great organization in recent seasons. The team is without drama, they play good team basketball, and their superstar is one of the most likable in the league. But it doesn’t look like Bones Hyland is leaving with only fond memories based on his recent comments.
Bones Hyland on playing Nikola Jokic & Jamal Murray to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George:
“It was a great experience playing with Joker. 2 guys over here who’s a phenomenal talent. And you know over there, it was 1 guy that’s a phenomenal talent as well.” pic.twitter.com/gYbGt1B9Pw

“You know, they’re definitely different talents. Joker’s more of a passer and he does everything. But I feel like PG and them do the same thing. It’s definitely a different type of style. PG and them, I feel like they’re more scoring and Joker is more passing, and then if he has to score, he has to. It’s going to be a great experience over here.
“It was a great experience playing with Joker. 2 guys over here who’s a phenomenal talent. And you know over there, it was 1 guy that’s a phenomenal talent as well.”
Despite specifically being asked about Jamal Murray, Hyland made it a point not to mention him during his answer. It’s a bit too conspicuous to just pass it off as him not realizing that it might be taken as a shot at Murray. In any case, if the Nuggets and Clippers meet in the playoffs, it will certainly be an interesting matchup.
