When it comes to the GOAT, the majority of basketball fans would give that title to Michael Jordan. However, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has had a lot of supporters over the years who claim that he is actually the greatest player ever.

After LeBron James broke the scoring record previously held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a lot of fans debated whether he was now the GOAT. Opinions were mixed, with supporters on both sides.

False: it’s Jordan

Either he’s the all time leading scorer and he’s not even a scorer or he’s 4th all time in assists and he’s not even a distributor. Either way that’s the clear and obvious GOAT.

It’s now undoubtedly true

It’s been over since 2016 but now it’s OFFICIAL

As long as I live in the universe where Michael Jordan exists, the answer is a hard ‘false.’ It’s about the intangibles.

One of the greatest not thee greatest…

MJ is still the GOAT. End of discussion.

Kareem wasn’t even considered the greatest of all time… why does breaking his record give that title to LeBron?

Bill russell isn’t considered the goat for having the most championships so why does MJ

Alot of people consider him as the goat so ye

UNDISPUTED TRUTH

I love lebron but no. Mike accomplished more in SIX less seasons

True True True True AND True

False Jordan is the best player to ever. played for the NBA but congrats lebron for breaking a record

It remains to be seen if fans will change their mind about LeBron James in the future. He is definitely the best player of this past generation of players, even though a lot of fans believe that he is not as good as Michael Jordan.

LeBron James Believes That He Is The GOAT

Despite what fans may think, it is clear LeBron James himself believes that he is the greatest player basketball has seen. Recently, he claimed that he was willing to take himself “against anybody” who has played basketball, adding that he always feels that he is the “best to ever play this game.” There are notably some other players who believe LeBron James is the GOAT as well, most notably Isiah Thomas.

“I’m gonna let everybody else decide who that is, or talk about it… Me personally, I’m going to take myself against anybody who has ever played this game. Everyone is going to have their favourite… but I know what I’ve brought to the table, I know what I bring to the table every single night, and what I can do out on this floor. I always feel like I’m the best to ever play this game, but there’s so many other great ones that I’m happy to just be a part of their journey.”

Being confident in one’s ability to take on anyone else is a key trait among all-time greats, LeBron James included. You need to feel like the best player in the world every day to dominate opposing defenses the way that they do.

There is no doubt that when people discuss Michael Jordan and LeBron James, debates tend to get heated. Perhaps one day we will see a player that manages to surpass both of them, but as of now, the debate will continue to rage on.
