The trade deadline is gone and the Western Conference teams strengthened quite a bit before it ended. The Phoenix Suns and the Dallas Mavericks made the biggest additions, but the Los Angeles Lakers arguably made the most significant changes to their roster.

Lost in all this is the fact that the Los Angeles Clippers also added some quality contributors like Eric Gordon and Bones Hyland. The Clippers also don’t seem like they’re done yet, with their search for a point guard potentially taking them into the buyout market.

It is widely expected that Russell Westbrook will be bought out by the Utah Jazz, although it’s not a certainty by any means. If the point guard does hit the buyout market, then the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat have been mentioned among his suitors.

And while there are rumors that the Clippers aren’t quite sold on his fit with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the players themselves might not agree with that assessment. Paul George in particular seems to be keen on the idea of adding Russell Westbrook to the roster, and his comments on Friday have made that more apparent than ever.

Paul George Has Urged The Clippers To Work Something Out For Russell Westbrook

Paul George and Russell Westbrook have played together in the past on the Oklahoma City Thunder, although playoff success eluded them during their stint together. George seems to think that it would work with Russ on the Clippers though, even if he did admit that the team is also good as they are.

“If there is somebody out there — Russell [Westbrook] — if it makes sense and it goes with our team, we’re all for it… Hopefully Russell sees this and we figure something out.”

“If there’s somebody out there, Russell. You know, if it makes sense and obviously it goes with our team, we’re all for it. We’re all for having a point guard. But you know, in saying that, I think we’re good as well if nothing happens. I think we’ve got enough in this locker room to make it work. But it would definitely improve our team… Make the game easy. Hopefully Russell sees this, and we figure something out.”

Russell Westbrook found a good role for himself with the Lakers off of the bench this season and he certainly has what it takes to contribute at a high level for the team. But this is a bold statement from Paul George considering that Westbrook is still under contract with the Jazz. He might just have to watch out for some tampering fines for a statement like this.
