LeBron James just turned 38 a month ago, and he keeps defying father time, showing that he’s still that great player who doesn’t hesitate when clashing with younger stars. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has had to carry his team again, especially with the absence of Anthony Davis for a couple of weeks.
LeBron keeps showing his quality and was even named player of the week in the West twice, reminding people that he’s the real deal and that as long as he keeps playing, the Lakers will stand a chance against any rival. Things didn’t go well for him and his team on Saturday night, but the King remains one of the top players in the association.
However, not many people think he’s one of the five best players in the NBA right now, including Stephen Jackson. The former player is a very good friend of Bron, but he doesn’t see the King as a top-5 baller right now.
Stephen Jackson Explains Why LeBron James Isn’t A Top 5 Player Right Now
During a recent appearance on I AM ATHLETE, Jackson, who never hesitates to share his opinion on anything, talked about the players he considered the five best in the association, mentioning some veterans and young stars.
Stephen Jackson doesn’t have LeBron James in his current Top 5:
“But right now in the league, he is not the Top 5 best player in the league right now.”

“Best in the league right now: Kevin Durant, I will go Giannis, Luka, Jokic, and Embiid. That’s my best five,” Jackson said.
When questioned about LeBron, Stak paid the ultimate respect to the 4x NBA champion but clarified that LeBron isn’t on his top 5 players right now.
“Not in my Top 5,” he said of LeBron. “… Not right now. He’s in my Top 3 of all-time, but right now in the league, he is not the Top 5 best player in the league right now.”
At the start of the season, LeBron was playing at a good level, but not like this. He has recorded 30+ and 40+ point games, showing that the Lakers aren’t done. He shouldn’t be doing too much during the regular season, but it is what it is, and the King is willing to sacrifice for his team’s sake.
While Jackson doesn’t think Bron is a top-5 player, others like Tristan Thompson think he will be soon in the MVP conversation this season.
