Jordan Poole has had quite an interesting 2022-23 season. There are times when he has struggled to get going, but he has also had moments where he has exploded offensively to show just why the Warriors gave him that big deal before the season. You would perhaps expect some inconsistency from a young player like him, but head coach Steve Kerr hasn’t been pulling any punches when it comes to how he deals with Poole.

He had criticized Poole earlier for being careless and not playing defense, and he went off on the guard in their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Poole first committed an offensive foul and then held on to the ball, which led to a delay of game violation. Kerr was furious after that sequence and went off on the young guard. He explained his actions after the game, stating that he had to make Poole understand that every play counts. Stephen Curry had no issues whatsoever with how Kerr handled the situation, and he also wanted to point out that Poole responded positively to the whole situation.

“Hey for all the kids watching this clip…Coach Kerr coaching like he should. JP taking the energy the right way. Both of them move on to try and win the game!!! @houseofhighlights Make sure you show how @jordan_poole bounced back after this.”

Poole finished with a game-high 32 points as he led the Warriors to a road win despite Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins sitting out. It was one of their most impressive wins of the season, considering the circumstances, and it capped off a positive road trip for the team.

Stephen Curry Spoke On How He Learned To Be A Leader For The Warriors

Curry’s response to that clip is exactly what you would want from a leader on the team. He wanted to get the message across that the situation was handled exactly the way it should have been while also propping up his teammate.

Steph wasn’t always viewed as a great leader, but it is a role that he has grown into over the years. He recently explained how he learned to be a leader on the team after the franchise handed over the keys to him. They made the right decision all those years back by putting their faith in Steph, and he hasn’t ever let them down.
