The Nets are without the services of Kevin Durant who has been sidelined after an MCL sprain he sustained against the Miami Heat. He’s set to be re-evaluated in two weeks, but the Nets have suffered in his absence, losing four games in a row, the latest coming against the Phoenix Suns.
Following the 117-112 defeat, the point guard took to Twitter and posted a rather obscure tweet:

Focusing on the last part, the 30-year-old preached patience and willed himself to stay composed, perhaps suggesting that the losses are a strong tide that would blow over. The ongoing season has him averaging 25.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.
Kyrie Irving Has Shouldered The Scoring Load in Kevin Durant’s Absence
In Durant’s absence, Irving has stepped up and played his part, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been enough to translate the results in Brooklyn’s favor. He notched up 30 points, 7 rebounds, and as many assists against the Chris Paul and Devin Booker-less Suns, but couldn’t finish the game on a high.
While there has been criticism from experts and fans after their dismal performances following an impressive surge, Irving remained confident of the Nets’ abilities to bounce back without their mainstay. Per the New York Post:
“I’m consistently in the lineup: That helps,” said Irving, who had only been playing road games last season during Durant’s absence. “We also don’t have ‘halfway-in’ anyone in the locker room, and there’s a primary focus on the big picture here.”
“I’m doing the best job I can. I wish I could make a few more shots within the minutes and be efficient,” Irving said. “I know that’ll come, and I’ll continue to prepare the best way I know how and be a better example for the guys in the locker room.”
The Nets are still comfortably placed with a 27-17 record in the East. They are fourth in the standings and are poised to make the postseason. It remains to be seen if the side can eke out a couple of wins before Durant makes his return. They play the Utah Jazz next.
