LeBron James getting MVP chants at the Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday during the Los Angeles Lakers clash against the Sacramento Kings doesn’t really come as a surprise.

The veteran has been on a tear this season averaging 29.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.7 assists. Against the Kings, James had 32 points marking his 17th 30+ point game of the season, but it was in vain as the Lakers lost 116-111.

Over the course of the game, the forward saw some love coming his way from fans as chants of MVP reverberated at the arena. And on his part, James acknowledged the praise from fans. Per the NBA’s Mark Medina:

LeBron James called it "very humbling" & "a cool feeling" to get MVP chants from Lakers fans. He then added, "One thing about being part of the Lakers, though, no matter who you are, you will at some point hear an MVP chant if you make a couple of shots. I’ll leave it at that."

LeBron James called it “very humbling” & “a cool feeling” to get MVP chants from Lakers fans. He then added, “One thing about being part of the Lakers, though, no matter who you are, you will at some point hear an MVP chant if you make a couple of shots. I’ll leave it at that.”

Despite James being the singular driving force for LA in the absence of Anthony Davis, the results haven’t exactly gone their way as they have lost their third game in their last four contests.

Will LeBron James’ Greatness Put Him In The MVP Conversation This Season?

Given the production at an advanced stage in his career, James is just 283 points away from surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s leading scorer, and his scintillating numbers this season surely make a case for MVP.

That said, the King is yet to see his name featured in the league’s MVP ladder’s Top 10 despite his stellar performances. While winning MVP would be the last thing on his mind, the forward has been vocal about his hopes of winning another title, and that everything else comes next, including becoming MVP.

The Lakers enter the second half of the season with a 20-25 record and are yet to hit the .500 mark. At the time of writing, they are placed 13th in the Western Conference and it’s that record that’s stopping James from making the NBA’s MVP cut. Only time will tell if he and Anthony Davis can help push LA to the playoffs.
