Miami Heat Have A Standing Trade Offer For Jae Crowder

The Miami Heat are hoping to acquire former player Jae Crowder from the Phoenix Suns before the trade deadline.

Jae Crowder was among the most talked about players on the trade market in the summer after his acrimonious split with the Phoenix Suns. However, the situation still hasn’t been resolved, with Crowder sitting at home and waiting for the Suns to trade him. They don’t want to just give Crowder away and are waiting for the right package for him.

Given Crowder’s disappointment with the team and refusal to play, his trade value is low, and the Suns can’t find a suitor that’ll give them whatever they need. There’s been plenty of interest in the veteran forward, with the Miami Heat reportedly having a standing trade offer for Crowder that would see Caleb Martin become a Sun.

“They have a standing offer to the Suns, as I understand it. Phoenix wants to bring things closer to the deadline, to see if someone gets desperate, to see if they could do better or get Miami to add a pick. The Heat are going to do something big, and adding Crowder is probably the starting point, like the least thing they would do.”

“The Suns earlier rejected an offer of Robinson for Crowder, and that is not likely to have changed. [Caleb] Martin, then, would be the most likely candidate to head to Phoenix, and center Dewayne Dedmon could be added to make the salaries work and keep Miami under the luxury tax.” (h/t Heavy Sports)

This would be a trade that benefits both teams in many ways, but the Suns will try and hold on to Crowder up until the last moment to see if any team outbids the Heat.

What Would The Roster Impact Be?

The Heat have desperately needed to reinforce their power forward position ever since P.J. Tucker left the team in the summer. Crowder has been linked to his former team since Tucker left the Heat. This trade would guarantee him a starting spot on a playoff team. It’s arguably the best situation he can land up in.

The Suns will lose out on Crowder but can add another wing option in Caleb Martin, who’s proved to be a reliable rotational player. The Suns also can go out and make moves to keep their power forward depth protected by swinging a trade for a player like Rui Hachimura.
