Ever since the arrival of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Brooklyn Nets fans have been waiting for the duo to carry the team to the NBA Finals and win a title. But every year, the Nets’ season tends to get ruined for various reasons. Be it injuries or internal conflict between the players and the coach.
However, in the 2022-23 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets have established themselves as one of the best teams in the league. The credit for it goes to the amazing duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately, due to Durant’s knee injury, he has been ruled out of action for around a month.
On top of that, Kyrie is dealing with a minor injury as well. Amidst this, the Nets are currently on a 3-game losing streak. But Nic Claxton is not worried about the team this season.
Nic Claxton Says The Brooklyn Nets Had A Toxic Environment Last Season During Kevin Durant’s Injury
Last season, apart from KD and Irving, James Harden was also present on the team. Despite Harden being a great player, he could never really settle in with the Nets. Since his departure from the team, the morale of the players seems to be pretty great.
Kyrie recently threw shade at Harden when he talked about Durant’s MCL sprain last season. On the same note, Nic Claxton has also claimed that there is a huge difference in the mindset of the team this season while Durant recovers from his injury.
Nic Claxton on difference between last year without KD and now: "Last year … it was kind of a toxic environment. We didn't know if everybody wanted to be here at the time. This year, there's no divide between everybody that's out there. We're going to figure it out."

Last year … it was kind of a toxic environment. We didn’t know if everybody wanted to be here at the time. This year, there’s no divide between everybody that’s out there. We’re going to figure it out.
Durant is, without a doubt, the leader of the team, and his absence is a heavy loss for the team, especially at this point in the season. Prior to getting injured, Durant was averaging 29.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 5.3 APG.
If what Claxton has said is true, then the Nets shouldn’t have to worry about the chemistry between the players taking a hit.
