The Los Angeles Lakers might have the services of Anthony Davis soon as they prepare to stake their claim for a playoff berth this season.

Davis’ last game was against the Denver Nuggets in December after he went down with a stress fracture to his right foot. The center has been on the sidelines since, and the Lakers have had a sine wave-like run in his absence.

Recent developments bring good news as Davis has reportedly ramped up half-court work. While he will not be suiting up in the Sunday clash against the Philadelphia 76ers, his on-court progress serves as a positive for the side looking to make the postseason.

Anthony Davis Ramps Up Half-Court Work

The team held a practice session on Saturday at noon and Davis was reported to be practicing, as were Austin Reaves and Lonnie Walker, whose injuries have kept them out of the squad as well.

Head coach Darvin Ham shed light on the big man’s recovery, while also providing updates on Reaves and Walker. Per Dan Woike of the LA Times:

Some updates from LAL practice – Anthony Davis was on the floor today for some half-court work. Lakers did, indeed, workout DeMarcus Cousins and Meyers Leonard Friday. Austin Reaves was on the court doing individual work and Lonnie Walker IV is also progressing, per Ham.

In addition, Ham also confirmed that the team worked out DeMarcus Cousins and Meyers Leonard. It remains to be seen if one of the players receives a 10-day contract after Sterling Brown ends his tenure on Sunday.

The Lakers are 19-23 and placed 13th in the West. They will hope to have Davis back in the fold to significantly increase their chances of making the postseason.
