In 2019, the Los Angeles Clippers assembled a team that many thought would be in the NBA Finals multiple times in the seasons to come. They got Kawhi Leonard who was fresh off a championship and Finals MVP with the Raptors and paired him up with Paul George. The Clippers then filled the roster out with impactful role players, an elite blend of shooting, defense, and size, a roster that included Marcus Morris.

It’s safe to say that the Clippers have failed to live up to their potential in the Kawhi Leonard era. The team got to the Conference Finals in 2021 but lost to the Phoenix Suns. And while injuries have been a problem and continue to plague them even now, the Clippers choked massively in the 2020 playoffs. Going up against the Denver Nuggets, the team imploded in the Bubble, failing to get their desired matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers in the WCF.

Marcus Morris’ Comments On The Clippers’ 2020 Loss To The Nuggets Got Him Called Out

Marcus Morris was expected to be a difference-maker for the Clippers, but he couldn’t stop the team from succumbing to the series loss. Paul George earned eternal mockery for his failure in that series, and the Clippers even fired their Head Coach, Doc Rivers. Morris has since spoken about the series almost 3 years later, saying that the biggest issue for the Clippers was the Bubble environment itself.

“We only lost that s— because we were in the bubble,” Marcus Morris Sr. says. “[If] we weren’t in the bubble, we’d beat the s— out of them. Put that on the record. … Guys are out of their comfort zone. Kudos to Denver.”

The Nuggets recently beat the Los Angeles Clippers again, making it 5 wins in a row against the Clips. They have been dealing with injuries to their best players just as the Clippers have, but the Nuggets have a record of 8-2 against the Clippers since their playoff series in the Bubble

This was pointed out by an NBA fan on Reddit, and it led to a whole round of trolling at Morris’ expense. It’s definitely a good thing for players to make claims like these as they can backfire in these ways. The Denver Nuggets are finally healthy and look like they’ll be challenging to win the West this season, but it’s hard to say the same for the Clippers.
