The Dallas Mavericks didn’t look like the Boston Celtics’ equal when the pair clashed against each other on Thursday night. The Mavericks’ longest win streak since 2011 came crashing down as Boston put on an offensive display to completely shut down the Mavs.
Luka Doncic was due for a bad game and it came against the Celtics, as he scored 23 points on 30.4% efficiency. A lack of shotmaking from other players until garbage time doomed them to a loss. Jayson Tatum starred with a 29-point and 14-rebound triple-double.
Fans saw Luka struggle and nobody on the team being able to help him out and went ballistics. The Mavs fell 124-95 on a rough night.

The Celtics showed that they still might be the best team in the league when their shots are falling. After their debacle of a loss against the OKC Thunder, this was a very strong and reassuring win for the Celtics who have had a tough month.
Are The Mavericks Realistic Contenders In The West?
Last season, nobody would have said that the Dallas Mavericks were going to reach the Western Conference Finals. People didn’t even say that when they were matched up against the top-seeded Suns and proceeded to fall down 0-2 before pulling off a historic comeback to win the series.
Given how closely matched the West is this season, the Mavs could have great playoff moments led by Luka Doncic, given the role-players are shooting like they were last season. Their shooting-reliant offense killed them today and killed them in various playoff games against the Warriors.
Unless there’s an actual offensive strategy doesn’t rely on Luka making tough shots and creating open 3s, the Mavs will be stuck in their current cycle.
