LeBron James can rightly be regarded as one of the greatest players over the last couple of decades. And he decided to show the world that he wasn’t done when he suited up for his 20th year in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers star, who turned 38 on December 30, has been the driving force for the side even as they struggle with consistency and momentum. Fitted with a subpar roster, James has been the team’s superman this season, averaging 28.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.

To cap off his birthday in style, he shreds the Atlanta Hawks defense to notch up 47 points and lead the team to a 130-121 win, all the while closing in on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of being the all-time leading scorer in the NBA.

It’s perfectly safe to call the veteran one of the GOATs, given his incredible achievements over the years. A tweet of James’ laurels did the rounds on Twitter soon after he turned 38.

LeBron James career:

18x All-Star
18x All-NBA
6x All-Defense
4x MVP
4x NBA Champ
4x FMVP

LeBron James career: 18x All-Star 18x All-NBA 6x All-Defense 4x MVP 4x NBA Champ 4x FMVP Averaging 28/8/7 and he’s only 38 years old.

And the best part is he’s not done as he continues to defy father time and give the young stars a run for their money.

LeBron James Gets Candid On His Future

Like Michael Jordan, whose career path was the focus in his final year with the Chicago Bulls, James’ thoughts on his future have been one of the constantly asked questions for the forward.

Speaking to the media after the Lakers’ loss to the Miami Heat, James provided an honest assessment of where he was at this juncture.

I don’t have a number,” James said. “I know as long as my mind stays in it, I can play at this level for a minute. Now, that’s up to my mind. My body is going to be OK because if my mind is into it, I will make sure my body is taken care of and I’ll continue to put in the work.”

Whether the Lakers will win another Championship is a discussion that can be tabled for later. For the fandom, it’s all about witnessing James turn up and do what he does best before he hangs up his shoes for good.
