On the eve of his 38th birthday, LeBron James got some pretty heartbreaking news. While James has been establishing a legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history, he has ensured he uses his platform to make the lives of people from his hometown better. For the same, he established the ‘I Promise School’ in Ohio to help inner-city kids get opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t.

The ‘I Promise School’ has had multiple backers looking to improve the state for inner-city kids, including Drake. However, they lost a crucial pillar in their project with the passing of Mr. Jeffrey A. Lysiak. LeBron has sent his condolences to Jeff’s loved ones, as the school takes a big hit.

🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️. Rest in Paradise Jeff! You’ll be missed! My condolences goes out to your loved ones https://t.co/1YW8STYlVZ

Positive role models and figures are crucial to help children break cycles of oppression and poverty. Lysiak’s impact has been profound for years and the school will hope they can have someone as warm and nurturing as him to help the students going forward.

LeBron James At 38

Getting this news a couple of hours prior to turning 38 must not have been easy for LeBron. His attachment to the school has been seen before, as he went out of his way to establish it when he had the chance. Hopefully, the project exists for decades to come and continues improving lives, as it has gone from schooling to providing medical facilities as well.

James will be turning 38 with a dark professional cloud over him, as he finally openly admitted that he is not motivated to play losing basketball for much longer. The Lakers’ front office should be worried about what LeBron does next offseason, as he will enter the final year of the contract extension he signed this summer.
