The NBA is the biggest basketball league in the world. Evidently, the most talented basketball players showcase their talents in the NBA and eventually see their popularity skyrocket around the globe.

But at the end of the day, basketball remains arguably the most popular spot in the United States out of other countries in the world. Most all-time greats that have made a name for themselves by playing basketball were born in the United States.

Even though the league has several amazing overseas players playing in the league, when we talk about the most popular players in each state of the country, the U.S.-born players are dominating.

LeBron James Is Still The Face Of The League

Basketball Reference recently released a graphic that showed the most popular basketball player in each state of the United States. Unsurprisingly, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was the most popular player in most states.

James is currently playing in the 20th season of his NBA career. Despite playing so many minutes in the NBA, James remains one of the best players in the NBA. As a result, LeBron is also still the face of the NBA, despite many suggesting otherwise.

Apart from LeBron, the other players who cracked the list were Michael Jordan, Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and a few others. Considering Jordan has been retired from the league for 20 years, it’s a true testament to his impact on the league that he is still the most popular player in a few states.

The only surprising thing about the graphic was the lack of Stephen Curry’s popularity apart from one state. Curry has a likable personality and is a future basketball Hall of Famer. So we expected him to be the most popular player in the NBA in at least a couple of more states.
