The NBA is a cutthroat business, and for every success story about a player that made it, there are many about those that couldn’t hack it at the highest level. Each season, 60 new players come into the league, which means that quite a few of them don’t last very long. The average NBA career is about 4 and a half years, which is something most people don’t realize.

When a player gets cut from the roster, it’s an embarrassing situation and one that can create self-doubt. However, some, like current Laker and former Warrior Juan-Toscano Anderson, try all they can to prove the doubters wrong. Toscano-Anderson played a big role in helping the Warriors win it all last season but was let go in the offseason after he got a good offer from the Los Angeles Lakers. But before all that happened, he was cut from the team, and the story of that is really interesting.

Draymond Green Shared Juan Toscano-Anderson’s Verbally Explicit Response To Getting Cut

Draymond Green has been one of the leaders of the Warriors for a while. However, he’s not quite in charge of personnel decisions. However, he is treated as a person synonymous with the organization, which means that players share the credit and the blame with him when they feel wronged by the Warriors.

Juan Toscano-Anderson seemingly did just that last year. After the Warriors cut him before the start of the season, he met Draymond at a club. And Green told the story of how he met JTA and what the youngster had to say about being cut.

“We went through camp, you got cut,” Green told Toscano-Anderson. “Last cut, by the way. And I remember seeing you that night, we were in the club in San Francisco. If I’m not mistaken we were in Love and Propaganda … He came to me and said, ‘Y’all f—ed up!’ I’m like, ‘What?’ First off, I’m not a general manager.

“He’s like, ‘Y’all f—ed up, I could really f—ing help you and help this team win.’ And I’m like, ‘Bro, I believe that, I believe you.’ He’s like ‘Nah, y’all made a fu–ing mistake, cause I could really help this team.’ And I’m like, ‘Alright bro, I respect it, keep on your grind bro, like keep chasing it, it’ll happen for you.’ And we had that moment. Then fast forward later that year, you got your opportunity.”

Toscano-Anderson has since signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he even admitted that he was fully committed to helping them win more than anything else. It is heartwarming to hear the stories of players that really struggled to make it and finally found a good role for themselves.
