Though the Chicago Bulls have some talented players on their roster, it is clear that the results have not been there this season. Despite the presence of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic on the roster, they are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference.
There have been many people that have suggested the Chicago Bulls need to rebuild. In fact, Bill Simmons previously claimed that the team needs to trade DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Chicago should tank. And they should go deeper than that. They should blow it up, copyright Kevin O’Connor. I have three trades right now that save Chicago. Trade number one: DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic to the Lakers for Russell Westbrook and those two first-round picks. Make the 2027 pick unprotected, and make the 2029 pick top-five protected.
A recent report by NBA insider Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers are, in fact, interested in acquiring DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic. There’s no doubt that both veterans would help the team immensely.
According to NBA sources, the Lakers are interested in both Vučević and DeRozan. If L.A. is willing to give up two first-round picks (2027 and 2029) along with Russell Westbrook as a buy-out candidate, the Bulls may end up in a better lottery position to retain their pick in June. This is the draft to do it.
It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers do end up acquiring DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic in the future. They definitely need some more offense on the roster, and perhaps this trade could make them a contending team in the Western Conference.
The Los Angeles Lakers Have Other Trade Options
Aside from this blockbuster deal, the Los Angeles Lakers have other trade options on the market. In fact, it was previously reported that the team is interested in acquiring Derrick Rose from the New York Knicks.
The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for a $43 million All-Star and former MVP. Heavy.com senior insider Sean Deveney spoke to an Eastern Conference executive who stated the Lakers “have always had interest” in New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose, who is available in trade talks.
There is no doubt that Derrick Rose would be able to help the Los Angeles Lakers on the offensive end of the floor. He is a solid ballhandler who has also developed into a credible 3PT threat over the last few seasons.
Hopefully, we will see the Los Angeles Lakers figure out a move that can help them get back to being a top-tier team. They definitely have the star power to make a deep run, but the key for them is rounding out the roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
