Rudy Gobert returned to where it all began, as he and the Minnesota Timberwolves headed to Utah to take on the Jazz. Gobert was, of course, drafted by Utah in 2013 and spent 9 seasons with the team, before being traded to the Timberwolves in the offseason.
It hasn’t been the greatest of starts at his new pitstop for Gobert, however, as the Timberwolves were just 12-12 entering this game while his old team had a record of 15-12. These teams had also met in Minnesota earlier this season, with the Jazz winning in OT but they weren’t able to go up 2-0 in the season series, as Minnesota won 118-108. With just a few seconds remaining in the game though, Gobert decided to score and the Jazz didn’t take it well.
oh man now Rudy Gobert drops in a bucket at the buzzer at the end of a decided game against his old team in their gym. Malik Beasley not happy.https://t.co/lvI3b5L3ud pic.twitter.com/qsyh1xQSEk

This always ends up being a hotly debated topic, on whether someone should score or not when the game is basically over. There’s a side that says it shouldn’t be done while the other would say play better defense and it won’t happen.
We also saw something similar earlier, when Zion Williamson dunked on a breakaway against the Phoenix Suns with under 10 seconds remaining when the game was all but over. We almost had a fight break out, as the likes of Chris Paul were furious with Zion and the situation was a lot tenser than what we saw in Utah.
Has The Gobert Trade Worked Out For Minnesota?
As we mentioned earlier, it hasn’t been all great for Gobert and the Wolves this season. This win improved their record to 13-12, which is well below expectations. NBA analyst Zach Lowe said he hasn’t found a single person within league circles who liked the trade and so far, you have to say that the doubters were correct.
They still have time to figure things out but Karl-Anthony Towns going down with an injury doesn’t help matters. Gobert and Towns need to play together as much as possible to see how this Twin Towers approach can best work, or else their season will end in disappointment.
