When the Los Angeles Lakers brought in former MVP Russell Westbrook into the lineup last season, they were considered a superteam with the big three of Westbrook, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. Given how dominant the duo of Bron and AD already were, Brodie was supposed to add to the firepower of the team.

A year later, it is safe to say that the Westbrook experiment has blown up on the Lakers’ faces. Given that the guard could never be integrated into the team, the Purple and Gold looked in shambles last season. Couple that with injuries, and the Lakers had a recipe for disaster as they couldn’t even make it to the play-in tournament last season.

Russell Westbrook All-In For The Lakers Despite No Assurances About His Future With The Team

The Lakers might have made some moves in the offseason but they still haven’t traded away Brodie. While many fans and pundits predicted that the Lakers might do the same, it seems like the Purple and Gold haven’t found a solution to their Westbrook problem.

But the guard shouldn’t be very happy about not being traded, though. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski recently claimed that there are no assurances of Westbrook being in the team or being a starter for the team come the 2022-23 season. Despite all the uncertainty though, Westbrook has claimed that he is all-in for the Lakers next season.

“I’m all-in on whatever it takes for this team to win… I’m prepared for whatever comes my way.”

It is certainly encouraging to see Westbrook’s commitment to the Lakers despite all the offseason drama. While last season coach Frank Vogel couldn’t integrate Westbrook to the Lakers, with a new coach in Darvin Ham, Westbrook has a chance to regain his lost stardom this season.

If he ends up staying with the team, this might realistically be his last chance of contributing significantly to a team with championship aspirations. Brodie has the chance to show that he can be an important piece of the Lakers lineup. His first season with the Lakers was certainly a disaster. Can Westbrook redeem himself in the 2022-23 season?
