Andrew Wiggins has had a spectacular year with the Golden State Warriors during the 2021-22 season. He made his first All-Star appearance and cemented himself as an elite two-way player in the league. This past season, Andrew Wiggins averaged 17.2 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 2.2 APG while shooting 39.3% from beyond the arc.

Obviously, there’s no doubt that Andrew Wiggins is a talented player. He has shown that he can have a positive impact on a championship team, and Wiggins is a fan favorite in the Bay Area. However, it seems as though some people believe that Andrew Wiggins has become overrated.

In a recent player ranking done by ESPN, Andrew Wiggins was ranked ahead of Kyrie Irving. Obviously, Kyrie Irving is generally considered the better offensive player and is more accomplished. A lot of NBA fans had strong reactions to the news, with many suggesting that Andrew Wiggins is not close to Kyrie Irving as a player.

Kyrie Irving did not play the majority of the 2021-22 season, and he will have a chance to show the world that he’s a better player than Andrew Wiggins next season. Obviously, it seems as though the point guard himself has gotten underrated due to his part-time status last season.

Even if the majority of people believe Kyrie Irving is a better player, that doesn’t mean that Andrew Wiggins is bad. He has definitely had a solid year, and it will be interesting to see if he can keep up his elite two-way play.

The Golden State Warriors Need Andrew Wiggins To Win Another Championship

Andrew Wiggins’ rebounding and defense were crucial for the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 playoffs. Steve Kerr even noted that the Golden State Warriors wouldn’t have made the Finals without the star’s presence.

A lot of talent and a lot of ability and needed to figure out his role with this team. We’re so lucky to have Steph, Klay, Draymond, Andre, who are basketball players. They understand the game, they understand a guy like Wiggs has so much value… We would not be here without Wiggs. His defense throughout the playoffs has been amazing, the threat that he provides offensively gives us another dynamic.

Obviously, the Golden State Warriors will be the widespread favorite to repeat next season. After all, they’re an elite defensive team led by the best point guard in the league, Stephen Curry.

However, the Golden State Warriors will need Andrew Wiggins to play well. As long as he continues to provide multi-positional defense, shooting, and slashing, he will be a valuable player to the team, and there’s no doubt that Andrew Wiggins has managed to revitalize his career on the Golden State Warriors.
