NBA Analyst Points Out How LeBron James Is Affected By Reported New Draft Eligibility Rules: “Bronny Would Be Eligible In 2024, And Bryce James Would Be 2025.”

There is not a lot left for LeBron James to still accomplish in NBA terms. However, the King has been very vocal about one dream that he would like to fulfill. LeBron’s sons Bronny and Bryce both seem to be enjoying their basketball and are widely expected to make it to the NBA at some point in their lives. And their father has spoken about wanting to be able to play on the same team as them.

There has been speculation about Bronny’s draft position when he becomes eligible and whether teams would consider picking him high just to get LeBron. Bryce is still a bit further away from the world of professional basketball, but even he is already being approached by college programs that want him to play for them.

However, he might not have to do that if the reported new rules regarding draft eligibility come into play. Shams Charania revealed that the NBA and the NBPA are close to agreeing to once again allow 18-year-olds to be drafted into the NBA. And with the report stating that this might happen as soon as the 2024 NBA Draft, it has opened up some exciting possibilities for the James gang.

NBA Analyst Points Out How LeBron James Could Benefit From The Reported New Rules Regarding Draft Eligibility

When the news broke, many were thinking about the high school prospects that may now be able to benefit if they do indeed go into action. And for a LeBron James that is getting up there in age and wants to play alongside his sons, this could work out extremely well, as an NBA analyst pointed out.

Big for LeBron James' future. @ShamsCharania says new preps-to-pros draft rule could go in effect for 2024 draft (and not the upcoming 2023 class).

Bronny James would be draft-eligible in 2024 and Bryce James would be 2025.

Reminder: LeBron can be a free agent in 2024. https://t.co/9FYQt9Ecew

LeBron James’ new extension will kick in at the start of the 2023-24 season, but he has a player option available for the 2024-25 season. That means he could become a free agent in 2024 when Bronny becomes eligible. And while that has possibly always been the plan, the two can also team up with Bryce if things work out, who would then become eligible in 2025. There are some interesting implications to the reported new rules, and it makes the careers of Bronny and Bryce all the more exciting.
