Patrick Beverley raised an important point when he called Kevin Durant out earlier in the day. Following the news that KD and the Nets had settled their differences and would be moving forward together, Beverley took to Twitter to argue the plight of some free agents. This led to a crispy reply from Durant himself, but the point was echoed by someone else.
Isaiah Thomas is one of the many players that are still free agents available for teams to sign. With a potential blockbuster Durant deal holding the market hostage, though, a lot of those deals never became concrete. And Thomas himself got on Twitter after the news broke to wonder if those players would now be able to sign with teams.
Finally lol. Can we sign now lol

“Finally lol. Can we sign now lol”
Isaiah last played for the Charlotte Hornets and currently finds himself without a team, as do a lot of other players that very much could get signed. With half the league interested in trading KD or Donovan Mitchell, though, there wasn’t much opportunity for them to secure their future. Mitchell remains on the market, but the asking price for the Jazz’s star guard is similarly high, and any deal will take time.
Notably, a lot fewer teams are interested in him than were in Kevin Durant, though, which means roster spots with those franchises can now get filled up. Whether it’s with veterans and former All-Stars like Thomas, or young guys trying to make the league, those players will be waiting to get another opportunity to show that they belong.
Isaiah can hope to get some offers, especially since he balled out hard in the Drew League during the summer. He may not be the player he once was, but the ability to get buckets off the bench is a valuable one. He probably didn’t predict KD would be the reason it took so long, but if he can find a team, it should be a case of all’s well that ends well.
