Derrick Rose is a true veteran of the NBA, and the former MVP will be in the New York Knicks’ plans next season as their primary guard off the bench. The Knicks have added Jalen Brunson to their point guard rotation, and now Rose can come off the bench for Brunson instead of Alec Burks as he did most of last season.
Rose has become a fan favorite in New York, currently in his second stint with the team. Rose was crucial for the Knicks in their playoff run in 2020-21 but struggled with injuries last season. He is entrenched in the Knicks culture and is growing a family in New York.
Rose’s 9-year-old son PJ is an aspiring hooper, and working out with his father will help him build in a way many young hoopers can’t. He was seen working out with his dad in New York, with fans stunned at the height of the young Rose.

Derrick Rose has had an incredible comeback from being almost out of the league to a rotational point guard in the NBA. He has 2 years left on his contract and could just stay with the Knicks as a veteran to mentor the many young players on their roster. His son is growing up in front of everyone’s eyes, as PJ Rose has been ever present by his father’s side over the years.
Rose never realized his true potential after becoming the youngest MVP in NBA history. Injuries stole his prime and Rose was almost out of the league after being waived by the Utah Jazz in 2018. He had a 50-point game for the Minnesota Timberwolves the next season and has since been productive for the Detroit Pistons and Knicks.
Hopefully, we see the Knicks do well for the sake of Rose, who is one of the most popular players in the NBA. Watching him succeed after everything he has had to overcome sends a great message to the fans and is heartwarming for all the adults that saw his MVP potential snatched from him.
