The Cleveland Cavaliers have been active during the 2022 NBA offseason, keeping the players that helped them reach the play-in tournament last season and still trying to secure the services of Collin Sexton, one of their best players for the future.
While the Sexton situation develops, the Cavs have also been linked with a reunion with LeBron James, who could be a free agent next season and return to Cleveland for the second time in his career.
However, these rumors have been shut down by some reporters, while others claim that Bron is headed to Cleveland with Bronny James. Well, according to Evan Dammarell, the Cavaliers are keeping tabs on another former player, but in this case, it is not the King.
“Instead, multiple league sources tell Right Down Euclid that Cleveland fans should keep an eye on Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins next summer,” Evan Dammarell wrote. “The Cavaliers have bounced around the idea of bringing back Wiggins into the fold for a while now and the Warriors probably cannot afford Wiggins on top of the other costly contracts on their payroll. With how Wiggins performed en route to an NBA Championship this summer, the fit would make almost too much sense with Cleveland.”
This is not the first time we hear about the Cavaliers pursuing Wiggins. The 2022 NBA champion revived his career in Golden State, and now a host of teams are interested in acquiring his services. Perhaps the Warriors don’t sign him on a long-term deal, or they secure this contract before shipping him somewhere else. Either way, the Cavaliers are paying attention to this situation, hoping to bring the former No. 1 pick to Cleveland.
Wiggins is one of the best two-way players in the league right now, and his presence in Cleveland would help this team achieve big things in the future.
