The 2022 ESPYs have come to a close and the event certainly had its fair share of iconic moments. With Stephen Curry hosting the event, it was certain that basketball fans were in for a treat and no teams were safe in the same regard.

Be it making fun of LeBron James or his team, the Los Angeles Lakers, Curry certainly left multiple NBA fans in splits. But it seems like Curry was not going to spare any team from California. While there was no mention of the Sacramento Kings during the event, before the ESPYs began, ESPN had posted a video featuring Curry with Kevin Hart and others.

In one segment of the hilarious video, Curry was spotted with his some of his family members, namely Ayesha Curry, Riley Curry, and Ryan Curry. While the family was seated, Ayesha Curry had a hilarious joke taking a massive dig at the Kings.

“Why is the Sacramento Kings arena so hot?”

“It’s because they have no fans.”

Over the last 16 years, the Sacramento Kings have been the laughingstock of the NBA and are perhaps one of the disappointing teams in the division. Not making it to the playoffs for the last 16 years, the Kings have had no success in terms of rebuilding the franchise.

Even their draft night selections haven’t helped with them missing out on superstars multiple times. While they had a decent prospect in Tyrese Haliburton, in classic Kings fashion, they blew the opportunity and brought in former All-Star Domantas Sabonis in the process.

With Sabonis alongside their star guard, De’Aaron Fox, the Kings have two decent players who have the capability of leading their side to at least a play-in spot. But perhaps the biggest game changer for the Kings should be their recent draft acquisition Keegan Murray.

Murray was the standout star in the summer league, putting up monstrous numbers. If their rookie forward can at least support the likes of Sabonis and Fox for the upcoming season, the Kings will have a chance to break their 16-year playoff drought.
