Patrick Beverley Wants To Know If The Utah Jazz Plan To Win Or To Tank: “The Only Thing I Do Is Make Playoffs, I’m Tryna Win.”

Patrick Beverley is set to play for a third different team in the last 3 years. After 4 seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, Beverley was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies last year, only to be immediately shipped off to the Minnesota Timberwolves 9 days later. He would then be traded earlier this month to the Utah Jazz in the first blockbuster trade of the offseason that saw Rudy Gobert head to the Timberwolves.

After the trade was announced, Beverley tweeted that it was time to take another team to the playoffs, but now it seems like he wants to know what exactly the Jazz are planning to do next season.

“Utah what up though Utah? What we gonna do Utah? Y’all tryna win or yall tryna tank, let me know. The only thing I do is make playoffs, I’m tryna win!”

We will get a clear idea of what they are going to do based on what happens with Donovan Mitchell. If they do end up trading him, then a full-scale rebuild would clearly be in effect, and as per Adrian Wojnarowski, Utah is willing to listen to trade offers. Teams like the Miami Heat are reported to be very interested in Mitchell, and they might be able to put together a package to land him. If that does happen, then it looks like Beverley would want no part of a rebuild.

He has spoken about his track record of having made the playoffs every year when he has been healthy, and even though he did surprise many by helping the Timberwolves make it last season, there is no way he accomplishes that with the Jazz if Mitchell is no longer a part of the team.

You’d think a few teams would be interested in Beverley as he does provide some good defense, and he is also just a pest in general to opposing players. He also averaged his career-high in assists with the Timberwolves last season and can provide some good minutes to a contending team. We now wait and see what happens in Utah in the coming weeks.
