Trae Young is one of the best point guards in the league, and his offensive production would suggest that he is a superstar-caliber player. Last season with the Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young averaged 28.4 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 9.7 APG.

The Atlanta Hawks clearly believe that they can contend with Trae Young, and they added All-Star Dejounte Murray via trade this offseason. Trae Young has recently commented on the acquisition and suggested that Dejounte Murray can help the team win a championship going forward.

I just know what type of player he is. I know what he can bring to our team. I wanna win championships in Atlanta. I think he can ultimately help take us to that level. We’ve been in the playoffs, we’ve been on a run, but he can take us to that next level.

During the 2021 playoffs, the Atlanta Hawks made the Eastern Conference Finals, and they were two wins away from making it to the Finals and facing the Phoenix Suns. They are clearly a better team than they were back then, as they’ve added an elite defensive guard and All-Star in Dejounte Murray. Perhaps we’ll see them make some noise in the Eastern Conference next year, though they’ll have to go through some tough teams such as the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks if they want to make it to the highest stage.

It remains to be seen if Trae Young and Dejounte Murray can lead the Atlanta Hawks to an NBA championship. They are a good fit next to one another, and adding Dejounte Murray means that defenses can no longer zone in on Trae Young as much. The Hawks also have some solid role players such as John Collins and Bogdan Bogdanovic on their roster, and perhaps they’ll end up being a contender sooner rather than later.
