Max Kellerman Believes LeBron James Will Give The Key To The Franchise To Kyrie Irving If He Decides To Join The Los Angeles Lakers

The 2022 NBA Free Agency is right around the corner. As a result, over the last few days, the headlines have been full of rumors about a plethora of players’ futures. But arguably the hottest name out there is the Brooklyn Nets superstar, Kyrie Irving.

After not playing more than half of the last season due to his stance on not getting vaccinated, Kyrie certainly hurt the feelings of the Nets fans. But they would have forgiven him had he made a long-term commitment to the franchise and promise to bring home a championship.

Instead, Kyrie has been negotiating with the Nets to get a huge contract, which the Nets aren’t comfortable in giving him just yet. As a result, many rumors have emerged that Irving will probably opt out of his player option and join another franchise. Another option for him is to request a sign and trade from the Nets.

Regardless of the way he leaves, if he indeed decides to leave the team, the Los Angeles Lakers are considered to be strong suitors for his services next season. Keeping that in mind, NBA analyst Max Kellerman shared his thoughts on why Kyrie joining the Lakers simply makes the most sense for him.

(Starts at 0:43):

“Along with LeBron and AD, you have every single thing you need to win a championship. Plus, LeBron gives you the keys to the franchise, ‘this is gonna be yours.’ Plus he follows in Kobe’s footsteps which he always wanted to do.”

As Kellerman explained, the last time LeBron and AD were fully healthy, they led the Lakers to an NBA Championship.

But in the last two seasons, Davis hasn’t been able to maintain his health. James, on the other hand, has missed a few games too. If the duo can stay healthy and they add a player of Kyrie’s caliber to the team, it should be enough for the Lakers to win another ring.
