Bradley Beal Rebuffs Rumors That He Is Opting Out Of Washington Wizards Contract: “Wait Huh? Lol.”

Bradley Beal is one of the best scoring guards in the NBA but has been showing his talents off to the world in Washington for his entire career. While the Wizards looked to have a window prior to 2018 with Beal and John Wall, those plans haven’t worked out after Wall got injured and didn’t play for a season and a half before being traded for Russell Westbrook.

The Wizards have a lot of good pieces on their roster after staying active in the trade market. They took most of the Lakers championship core for Russell Westbrook and then offloaded Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans to acquire Kristaps Porzingis. Despite this, the Wizards do not look like playoff contenders in a stacked East.

It was reported by HoopsHype that Beal will decline his $36 million player option this season amid rumors that he will leave Washington for a contender or re-sign on a 5-year $246 million contract. The Wizards guard seems to have rebuffed the report with a single tweet.

Wait huh? Lol

— Bradley Beal (@RealDealBeal23) June 22, 2022

Beal is evidently referring to the HoopsHype report, but there did seem to be a little truth to what was reported. Beal is the only source that can truly verify this and seems to have rebuffed the report. However, this is in line with the reporting about Beal for the last month.

He has been expected to not accept his player option to sign a new contract with the Wizards. The contract he is up for is much bigger than the $36 mil he is making right now, so the report could also be based on that intention unless Beal intends to accept his contract option and then sign an extension on top of it.

Hopefully, this situation has an answer soon. The deadline for players to accept their options is fast approaching (4th July), so we will know the final decision by then. For now, according to Beal, there might not be any declining of contract options happening with him.
