NBA players get looked up to by a lot of people considering that they are living the dreams of a lot of regular fans of the game. The wealth that they have access to as well as the fame makes them icons but often people forget that they are people too, and as such deal with a number of the same issues that everyone else has to go through in their lives.

Dejounte Murray has developed into a star for the San Antonio Spurs and looks like he has all the tools to take the next step into superstardom as well if he continues to develop in the same way. But the guard has had a patchy relationship with his father, something he posted about on Instagram on Father’s Day, trying to make it right with his dad before things got too late for them to salvage their relationship. Murray hasn’t been shy about speaking about his past before either.

A post shared by Dejounte Murray (@dejountemurray)

“We had our differences for almost 7-8 years and I just want a relationship with my dad before it’s too late and not have one of us living with regrets of not being a man and fixing the problems we had.

“I lovе you dad more than you will ever know and thank уou for taking ownership on why you wasn’t there as much as I wanted you to be as a kid but what matters is focusing on what’s right and that’s fixing our son/fathеr relationship right now!! Happy birthdaу and happy early Fathеrs Day and I hope you love the truck king.”

Murray also bought a truck for his father as a gesture of reconciliation and his dad seemed genuinely overwhelmed. This is a fantastic example for Dejounte to set for his young fans, as it’s important for people to have good relationships with their parents whenever possible. Hopefully, Murray himself can continue to enjoy a beautiful relationship with his father for years to come.
